About the Selection

Classroom Adventure Inc. (Headquarters: Chuo-ku, Tokyo) announces that our project "Development and Demonstration of Practical Game-Based Prebunking Technology Using False/Misleading Information Sandbox" has been selected for the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications' "Development and Demonstration of Countermeasure Technologies for False and Misleading Information on the Internet" initiative.

This project will run until March 2026 and aims to develop educational technologies that enhance users' cognitive resistance against the growing threat of false and misleading information alongside the rapid proliferation of generative AI.

Background and Challenges

The rapid spread of generative AI has enabled anyone to easily create high-precision false and misleading information, with sophistication levels that make human detection of authenticity extremely difficult. Particularly during disasters and election periods, the spread of false and misleading information through SNS and other platforms poses increasing risks of social disruption, making the establishment of preventive countermeasure technologies, rather than mere reactive responses, an urgent priority.

Overview of the Technology Being Developed

This technology adopts a "prebunking" approach, creating preventive educational technology that forms "psychological immunity" in users before they encounter false and misleading information. This represents a shift from conventional passive information literacy education to active experiential learning.

Prebunking

Prebunking (pre-exposure) is a preventive method aimed at preparing recipients in advance to recognize information risks and resist them.

Construction of False/Misleading Information Sandbox

The system being developed will utilize cutting-edge generative AI technology to provide a "false/misleading information sandbox" environment where users can safely experience creating false and misleading information. The design enables users to gain deep understanding of false information generation mechanisms and psychological manipulation techniques by experiencing the perspective of "information creators" rather than just "information recipients."

International Supervision Framework

Leading experts in countermeasures against false and misleading information from Japan, Taiwan, and Indonesia are participating as supervisors in this technology development. From Japan, Daisuke Furuta of Media Collab Inc. and Kenichi Shimomura of Reiwa Media Research Institute; from Taiwan, Hui-An Ho of Taiwan FactCheck Center; from Indonesia, representatives from MAFINDO (Masyarakat Antifitnah Indonesia), AJI (Aliansi Jurnalis Independen), and CekFakta; plus Masashi Kajimoto, representative of ANNIE at the University of Hong Kong, establishing an international supervision framework that brings together specialized knowledge from across the Asia-Pacific region.

The technology developed through this project will be implemented in educational institutions, corporations, and local governments both domestically and internationally, contributing to the realization of a healthy information society.

Following the completion of demonstration in March 2026, we will promote full-scale social implementation based on the obtained results, aiming to strengthen democratic social foundations through suppression of false information spread and improvement of information literacy. In particular, we aim to contribute to improving overall social resilience by enabling rapid and effective deployment as countermeasures against false and misleading information during election periods and disasters.
